Snowboarding with my family has become one of those rare moments where everything slows down. Being on the mountain—away from schedules, screens, and constant problem-solving—creates space to be fully present. There’s joy in the simplicity of it: shared chairlift rides, long runs, and time together without distractions.
Interestingly, these moments away often make me better at consulting. Snowboarding demands focus, balance, and adaptability—qualities that mirror effective problem-solving in business. You can’t rush a run or force control; you adjust to the terrain as it comes. Consulting works the same way. The best outcomes often come when you respond thoughtfully rather than reactively.
Most importantly, being with family is a reminder of why balance matters. In consulting, it’s easy to prioritize constant momentum, but stepping away brings clarity and perspective. Time spent snowboarding with family reinforces the importance of grounding your work in what matters most. When you return, you’re sharper, more intentional, and better equipped to navigate complexity—on the mountain and in business.
